OCCUPATIONAL PROFILE

The purpose of this qualification is to prepare a learner to function as an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Officer. 

Occupational health and safety officers monitor compliance with health and safety systems in an organisation. They identify hazards and assess risks to health and safety and recommend the placement of appropriate safety controls in place where required. The core function of these employees are to evaluate compliance with OHS practices, policies and standards. The qualified learner will exhibit the following key attributes: OHS technical expert, active team player, dedicated compliance officer, tenacious and committed facilitator, self-driver with good communication ability, ethical participant.

  • KT0401 Key stakeholders that are involved in the prevention of accidents and incidents in the workplace.
  • KT0402 The role of each of the key stakeholders in preventing accidents and incidents.
  • KT0403 The consequences when a stakeholder does not execute their duty in accident/incident prevention.
  • KT0404 The role of the safety representative when one of the other stakeholders do not do what is expected of them.

Internal Assessment Criteria:

  • IAC0401 Given a list of stakeholders accurately indicate what each of them must do to prevent accidents and incidents.
  • IAC0402 Elaborate on the consequences when a stakeholder does not execute their duty in accident/incident prevention.
  • IAC0403 Give practical examples to explain the role of the safety representative when one of the other stakeholders do not do what is expected of them.
