People Certification is a software company which created a private space online, filled with tools, courses and activities, all optimized for collaborative learning.

 

What’s covered by this Privacy Notice?

Under the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) personal data is defined as: “any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (‘data subject’); an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person”.

All data subjects whose personal data is collected, in line with the requirements of the GDPR.

  • where People Certification is hosting a website on its own behalf, it is the Data Controller for all the data collected.

 

Why does People Certification need to collect and store personal data?

We need to collect personal data for correspondence purposes and/or to allow us to provide you our service(s). We are committed to ensuring that the information we collect and use is appropriate for this purpose. People Certification is a company which values its users’ data protection and privacy rights and we have no interest in collecting data beyond what we need to make our service(s) work for you.

In general we collect personal data relating to you for specific purposes, with the nature of the data collected depending on your interaction with People Certification.

Our legal basis for the processing of personal data are:

Any legitimate interests pursued by us, or third parties we use, are as follows:

The special categories of personal data concerned are:

  • any special categories of special personal data which any user volunteers while using the People Certification systems (for example in a forum or submission)

 

Will People Certification share my personal data with anyone else?

We may pass your personal data on to third-party service providers contracted to People Certification in the course of dealing with you. We do this because there are some services, such as our video conferencing facility, which will not work unless we are able to make these transfers. Any third parties that we may share your data with are obliged to keep your details securely, and to use them only to deliver the service they provide on our, and of course, your-behalf.

 

How will People Certification use the personal data it collects about me?

People Certification will process (collect, store and use) the information you provide in a manner compatible with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We will endeavour to keep your information accurate and up to date, and not keep it for longer than is necessary. People Certification maintains a register of its data processes which includes a record of the data retention policy for each type of data collected and is committed to only ever trying to process the minimum amount of data needed.

People Certification is required to retain certain information in accordance with the Law, such as information needed for income tax and audit purposes. How long certain kinds of personal data should be kept may also be governed by specific business-sector requirements and agreed practices. Personal data may be held in addition to these periods depending on individual business needs.

People Certification will pass on your personal data to certain third parties. People Certification is a global company and it uses cloud services which may be accessed by People Certification employees in any part of the world, including our Head Office in South Africa.

People Certification will processes different forms of personal data for as long as is necessary and proportionate for the purpose for which it has been supplied and will store the personal data for the shortest amount of time possible, taking into account legal and service requirements. Student registration is free

  • Go to the main page of the platform
  • On the : "Top Right-hand Corner", you will see a RED login button.
  • Click on this button
  • You will be directed to the Login Screen
  • A screen will appear asking for your user name (lower-case) and password
  • Choose a password that is at least 8 characters long with one special character (@ % _ *! & #), Upper and Lower Case, and a number(s)
  • Complete the rest of the form and submit
  • Once completed, you will receive an email with a link to verify your account
  • If completed, you can now login as a Student

NOTE:

Verification mail may sometimes take a few hours

If you did not receive an email,  check you Spam/Clutter/Junk folder


To log into the platform

  • Go to the main page of the platform
  • On the : "Top Right-hand Corner", you will see a RED login button.
  • Click on this button
  • You will be directed to the Login Screen
  • Enter your  user name and the password that you have chosen to create your account
  • Once logged in, you will see your profile appear on the : "Top Right-hand Corner"
  • You are now logged in and can start with your courses


To reset your password

  • Go to the login screen
  • Click on the “Forgotten your user name or password?” link, on the login screen
  • A screen will appear asking for your email address or user name  (Fill in one of the two options that is registered on the platform)
  • You cannot use a different email address or user name. The system will not recognize it
  • Once completed, you will receive an email with a link to reset your password
  • If you did not receive an email,  check you Spam/Clutter/Junk folder
  • Choose a new password that is at least 8 characters long with one special character (@ % _ *! & #), Upper and Lower Case, and a number(s)


To change your email address

  • Click your Profile icon in the top right corner
  • Select the View Profile option from the dropdown list
  • Choose which section you would like to edit from the options at the top of the page, e.g. Personal Info, Address, Education, Account Settings, and more
  • Click Save once you have made changes to any section

In some profile sections, the Save button will only appear after you have made changes

The system requirements are modest

  • Minimum system requirements for accessing courses are:
  • Adobe® Flash Player: Internet access (works on all speeds, although the faster the better, as always!)
  • Processor (any CPU speed which is sufficient to run the Flash Player and a browser at the same time)
  • Web browser (pre-installed on most Windows/Mac/Linux operating systems); recommended browsers include Google Chrome® and Mozilla Firefox®
  • Email address (if you don't have one, sign up with Google™ Mail, Yahoo!® Mail or any other free email provider)
  • If you have older browsers, you may experience issues when entering your new password for the first time or with loading some of the e-learning modules
  • Your browser should also have both cookies and javascript enabled. These are typically enabled by default
  • Audio listening devices to listen to the audio in the e-learning modules or video material


Issues if your Internet speed is not fast enough

Note:

Your download speed should be at least 1 Mbps. The minimum speed requirement may vary per the size of the e-learning content, but the above specification is a good average to work on

 

Recorded issues if your Internet speed is too slow (less than 1 Mbps):-

  1. Once you’ve clicked “ENTER” or “PLAY”, when viewing a presentation, you just get a white screen with no content
  2. Once you’ve clicked “ENTER” or “PLAY”,  when viewing a presentation, you just get a white screen with a constant loading icon
  3. The content may open but is very slow


Can I use my tablet? Yes, you can use your iPad or tablet

  • All you need is a solid, reliable Internet connection of at least 1MBs upload/download and a modern web browser
  • Our platform will work on any modern web browser
  • Web browser (pre-installed on most Windows/Mac/Linux operating systems); recommended browsers include Google Chrome® and Mozilla Firefox®
  • Email address (if you don't have one, sign up with Google™ Mail, Yahoo!® Mail or any other free email provider)


Can I use the platform off-line? No, you cannot use the platform off-line

The only way to study, is through our online platform. The course content can only be distributed through our  platform


How do I pay for courses? Payments are done via PayPal

You can purchase your course directly from PayPal

Use a currency converter for your local currency

Select the course you want
  • From the home page, click on the "scrolling banner" (view all courses)
  • You will be directed to a list of courses
  • Click on the Title of your course
  • You will be directed to the PayPal site to make your payment
  • Follow the PayPal instructions
  • Once payment has been received, an invoice will be generated by PayPal and emailed to you
  • Once payment has been completed, the course will be made available to you


When viewing the presentation / course

  • You have to make detailed notes
  • There is no time-limit set for the courses, thus the preparation for an Assessment must always be done first
  • Do not attempt an Assessment, if you have not completed the course / presentation
Where required, resource material has been included
  • In some presentations, there is a Resources tab in the top right-hand corner of the screen
  • The resources will have the icons of a PDF or Word document


Can I stop the presentation at any time? Yes, you can stop / pause at any time

  • Once you have started the presentation (course), you can stop at any time
  • Your progress will be saved on the platform
  • When you want to continue, you will be asked if you want to resume where you left off or if you want to start again

 

PLEASE NOTE THAT ASSESSMENTS CANNOT BE STOPPED / PAUSED AT ANY TIME

Assessments may not be stopped

All Assessments must be completed in one sitting


Certificates are issued when you pass the assessment

  • You need to work through all the modules that have been loaded onto your course
  • The pass mark has been set to 70%, so you will need to attain at least 70% for your assessment
  • If successful, the system will allow you to download your certificate (Get you certificate button)
  • Once completed, the certificate will also be available on the Home Page, on the left (Certificates Block)
  • From this Block, you can view and download all of your certificates


Will I have more than one opportunity to retake the assessment? Yes, you will

  • Only two (x2) attempts are allowed
  • If you fail an assessment or wish to attain a higher score, you can retake the assessment
  • Just go to the assessment page and click on the 'Retake' button beside your current score
  • The score will be deleted and you can repeat the assessment immediately.
Note:

When you retake an assessment your previous result will be deleted and replaced with your newest result, even if it is lower than the original.


Can I enrol again for the same course if I failed the assessment? Yes, you can

  • Open the applicable course
  • Navigate to the “Administration” block (left side) of the page
  • Select the “Un-enroll me”
  • Once completed
  • Go to the Main Page, select view courses
  • Select the course you want to take and make payment via PayPal
  • Once complete, you can take the course again



Are all the courses accredited? Some courses do have accreditation

A core function of the SETA’s is that they act as Education and Training Quality Assurance bodies (ETQAs) within various economic sectors to ensure quality education and training. The HWSETA ETQA is accredited by SAQA to monitor and audit achievements in terms of national standards and qualifications.
